Jim Hall
Jim spent the first twenty years of his life in North West London and only caught the bug snorkelling in the Red Sea, whilst doing his National Service in Egypt through 1954-1955. A family move in 1958 to South Wales and marriage in 1961 led to a heavy involvement in fresh water tropical fish keeping and breeding. Divorce in 1977 meant a break in the hobby for about 8 years, then he started up again, slowly at first, dabbling in cold water marine. A small tank, along with many mistakes, led to a bigger tank which in 1989 led to the purchase of a two metre aquarium when things really took off. His knowledge of marine life increased year by year and joining the BMLSS in 1992 helped immensely. Music is his other great interest and although he was 63 years of age in August 1998 he plays guitar with local bands when not searching the rockpools, or writing for Glaucus.
