The commonest and most widespread
chiton found on British rocky shores is Lepidochitona cinerea.
On many shores it is the only species to be found.
Acanthochitona fascicularis
is a larger species. This one is 29 mm long and 20 mm wide (widest part).
It was discovered on Lancing
beach, Sussex.
