SHOREHAM PEEPS
with Paul Plumb. Last time Paul showed his nostalgic film of Shoreham the hall was packed. Look back to the sixties for a unique look at your town on film. The personalities, the sights, the events and even how our local newspaper covered the news... through to printing and delivery. This has not been screened locally for many years so don’t miss your opportunity to see it. St. Peter's Church Hall, West Street Members £2 Others £3 |

LOST PUBS &
DARK STARS
Shoreham used to have several more pubs than it does. Trevor Povey recalls those we have lost, with rare photographs. The Dark Star Brewery, a Sussex success story, bought and refurbished Shoreham‘s Duke of Wellington not long ago. You will hear how they started in a Brighton pub cellar and are now expanding to their third, and biggest, brewery. Plus the story of their award-winning beers which will be available to try. Ropetackle Arts Centre Tickets £5. (Shoreham Society and Friends of Ropetackle £3) |

REAL ENGLAND:
The battle against the Bland
Paul Kingsnorth, writer, journalist and environmental campaigner, explains his enthusiasm for the unique and characterful country we live in. But beware, “We see the signs around us every day: the chain cafes and superstores that dominate our high streets; the decline of small farms and the loss of post offices. ” His recent book explores the links between people and places, and was described as “Revealing, stirring and brilliantly written, it should be read by everyone in England” – The Ecologist.
