I have been self-employed most of my working life as a freelance writer and photographer and executive director of the British Marine Life Study Society. This work is no longer profitable because of the invention of the Internet so I now find I have skills that could be used in worthwhile employment.
These transferable skills
include over 30 years of computer operation experience including working
knowledge of Microsoft Word, Publisher, PowerPoint, and many other computer
programs. I am experienced researcher, writer and communicator for both
popular and academic audiences, writing script for magazines to a regular
deadline, with a limited detour into the political arena, including appearances
on radio and television. I also have experience in book consultancy, the
difficult job of editor, graphic design, photography, arranging and managing
exhibitions, public speaking, bookkeeping to final accounts, VAT submissions,
communication to the public by telephone and correspondence on technical
subjects, talks and presentations to clubs, colleges and at universities
for specialist societies. The work is involved the full extent of small
publishing from initiation to the final liaison with the printers and distribution.
I have also be a working member of public consultancy committees with Adur
District Council and worked in conjunction with West Sussex County Council.
I am familiar with the workings of committees.
The River Adur Project: a documentary for schools was published.
