25 February 2007
A Yellow-browed Warbler, Phylloscopus inornatus, in a Southwick garden showed very well and called regularly. The bird frequented a pine tree in the first garden on the left in Phoenix Crescent. This small bird is a Scarce Vagrant in Sussex.

The ITV Meridian documentary programme "River Walks" with Charlie Dimmick featured the River Adur.

The Cloud Nine TV company with Charlie Dimmick filmed on 15 June 2006 on Lancing beach (at the Shoreham end near Widewater), referred to as Shoreham-by-Sea, featured shrimping with Peter Talbot-Elsden (British Marine Life Study Society). The programme also featured Lancing College Farm and Coombes Farm (with the newly planted Black Poplars).

16 February 2007
A half a dozen Red-breasted Mergansers were counted on Widewater Lagoon, five on the water diving and one of these piscivorous ducks was preening at the water's edge. None was seen with a fish in its saw-bill. Nearby, a single Ringed Plover with bright orange legs run around on the grass and pebbles, occasionally snatching what I assume were small insects. At least one each of a Redshank and Little Egret were seen in the shallows as expected.

15 February 2007
A Red Admiral Butterfly appeared in a neighbouring south Lancing garden.

14 February 2007
The first batch of Common Frog spawn appeared in the morning in my south Lancing garden pond. (TQ 186 044)
