A
flock of about twenty Long-tailed Tits
landed in a smallish leafless deciduous tree at the northern end of Gordon
Avenue in Shoreham town, and then they
flew in a north-easterly direction over the Hamm Road Allotments before
I could get my camera out.

A
Red
Admiral Butterfly fluttered around the
south-facing shop fronts at the western end of Shoreham High Street around
midday.

This
mushroom was discovered on the edge of the meadow to the north of the upper
car park on Mill Hill, believed to be the
White
Dapperling,
Leucoagaricus leucothites.
I
do not think that the common name is actually used for this frequently
encountered species?

A
Red
Admiral Butterfly fluttered over the twitten
between Gordon Avenue and Nicolson Drive in
Shoreham
next to Hamm Road Allotments. It came as a great surprise to me to see
a large yellow Brimstone Butterfly
fly over the top meadow (north of the upper car park) on Mill
Hill. It flew strongly in the direction of New Erringham. This
was the first Brimstone Butterfly
recorded in the month of November on these Nature
Notes pages. Five minutes later a Speckled
Wood Butterfly fluttered amongst the long
grass south of the Reservoir on Mill Hill.

The
red covering on the steep banks of both sides of Mill
Hill Cutting were the leaves of Cotoneaster
more than the berries,
with the large scrub of Wayfaring Tree.
