May 2024
On
the first warm afternoon of the year, I attempted my first visit to Mill
Hill in the sunshine.I spotted my first butterflies
of 2024: a bright yellow Brimstone Butterfly
over the lower slopes, followed by a white one, which were followed by
a Wall Brown
by the southern steps and a probable Speckled
Wood.
Old
Erringham (from the SW)
Trekking
down to the lower slopes was curtailed as path was too slippery in my disabled
state.
Horseshoe
Vetch was not seen in flower on the lower slopes from a distance. Bulbous
Buttercups were abundant in the meadow
of Old Erringham. Cowslips
were about to flower on the southern top part of the hill.

A Grey
Squirrel fell down the chimney, ate his
way into the lounge, ran around causing damage, and only released with
help from Chris next door, through a tricky window, with lots of luck.
Another squirrel on the chimney. Adventure seeker one was seen on roof.
Corbyn Crescent. It remained clinging to wall in the daylight of the late
afternoon. |
