REPORTS

October 2022
Old
Erringham (from the west)
At
low tide
in the afternoon sun, I spotted my first twenty winter Lapwings
in flight above the mud underneath the A27
Flyover.

October 2022
Cloudy,
17°C over the calm River Adur at mid-tide of
a peaceful afternoon. The winter was late. Fallen
leaves everywhere, but not a single butterfly
was seen in Shoreham.
12
October 2022
The
last dry day before the expected rain failed to produce anything newsworthy
apart from a fleeting glimpse of a Speckled
Wood Butterfly at the top of Buckingham
Park.
Sycamore
3 October
2022
Alas,
my legs felt weak and I was unable to make more than a cursory visit to
the lower slopes of Mill Hill
where I spotted a restless Clouded Yellow
Butterfly in the poor light of a hazy
afternoon. I was sure of a strong flying Red
Admiral. I also disturbed a male Common
Blue amongst the long grasses at the top
part of the hill south of the reservoir.
