Chalkhill
Blue on Marjoram on
the lower slopes of Mill Hill
Butterflies
were common on the breezy slopes of Mill Hill, on a cloudy afternoon follwing
a week of poor weather. 25+ Chalkhill Blues,
frequent Meadow Browns, Gatekeepers,
Red Admirals, occasional Peacocks,
Green-veined
Whites, Small Skippers. Brown Argus,
Common Blues. I was only fit enough to
make a cursory visit to the lower slopes returning by the ridge route.
Most butterflies were resting and needed to be disturbed. A Holly
Blue Butterfly was seen in town.
